Christ not only told his disciples to "love your neighbor", he told them to do something that would prove far more difficult for them, to "love your neighbor as you love yourself".
We attack these individuals, these devils, and say nothing of the systems (Satan) that create them everyday. No one is born a devil, yet devils exist, and so does Satan (whose evils you ignore because his efforts benefit your pockets and your security).
I am aware that I am surrounded by idol worshippers. (For God is built, not of wood, nor by hammer and chisel; but of human mental constructs, by words in a book and emotional utterances. Bowing to this thing you've built in your mind, and saying to it, "You have made all things, and you love me, oh holy one!")
It makes it so very difficult to talk to anyone about God, and about their godless despair. My actions are perplexing to you, and I know you are offended by my silence when you ask me questions about why I am not crying out in despair.
Fear motivates so many of your steps. (It even motivates some of mine, from the remembrance of a painful fearful despair that God has long saved me from. It is one of the reasons why heaven insisted, for years it seems, that I be honest with myself about myself, my humanity, and about God's faithfulness. God is always doing what is right - what is right for God's glory and what is right for the salvation of humanity.)
I remember the Church song, "Order my steps in your word", well in this dark world, "God's word" takes second place to fear and despair, and this is always evident by the outcomes of people's decisions.
